HEATH SPRINGS, SC::::::::::: Mrs. Alice Bowers Burgess, age 91, of 4240 Flat Creek Road, died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born July 13, 1919 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Jarrett A. Bowers and Carrie Emma Small Bowers and was the wife of the late Conley M. Burgess, Sr. Mrs. Burgess retired from Springs Employee Sales Store and was an active member of High Point Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of Young at Heart Club. Mrs. Burgess is survived by 2 sons, Conley M. Burgess, Jr. of Heath Springs, and Michael E. Burgess and wife Marty of Heath Springs, 2 daughters, Connie B. Hinson and husband Bruce of Lancaster, and Diane B. Evans and husband Joel of Clinton, SC, 5 grandchildren, Lisa Connell, Stephen Burgess, Michael J. Burgess, Matt Evans, and Allison Johnson, and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mamie B. Hinson, Fammie B. Hinson, and Dallas B. Adams. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Burgess will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at High Point Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Joyner with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The Family of Mrs. Burgess will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and the family suggests memorials to High Point Baptist Church, 1888 Rocky River Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
