Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Hugh Alan Weaver, known as, Alan Weaver, age 83, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born December 24, 1941, in Timmonsville, SC, a son of the late Lee Olin Weaver and the late Virginia Watford Weaver and was the loving husband of Frances Evelyn Jernigan Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a retired waste and wastewater treatment specialist from Cytech Industries. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Mr. Weaver was a member of Second Baptist Church for 27 years and served on many committees throughout his membership including, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, chairman of the teller committee, and always helped his wife on the bereavement committee. He was also a past president and member of Gideon's International, Lancaster Camp, and was a past member of Masonic Antioch Lodge #399. Mr. Weaver was a family man who enjoyed family meals and spending time with his family. He always made sure his family was taken care of.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years; Frances Weaver; his four children, Michael Weaver, Mark Weaver, Chad Weaver (Tracy), and Melissa Flynn (David); two grandchildren, Chase Weaver, and Zach Weaver (Taylor); two great-grandchildren, Lakyn Weaver, and baby girl Weaver on the way; two special nephews, Robert Weaver, and Randy Weaver; and many other special family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Virginia Weaver; and his brother, Kenneth Weaver.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Weaver will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Second Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Charles Hancock and Dr. David Carlton. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of Melissa and David Flynn.
